Working with Save the Children’s One Step Closer program in Armadale, Right Track held the first Hip Hop workshops in October 2015. The workshops gave young people the opportunity to meet Transit Officer Lawrence Hoxey, who is also a Hip Hop artist, to learn more about rail safety and the role of a PTA Transit Officer.
Lawrence used his skills as a recording artist, song writer and rap producer to not only talk to the young people, but to rap to them as well. ‘Health and Safety’ was the theme of the workshops, with Lawrence engaging the young people in a unique manner to really get those rail safety messages across. The final night even ended with a freestyle performance!
There are many more Hip Hop workshops coming up this year, with the first beginning in April. Keep your eyes peeled for more information and get ready to jump on board with Right Track.
