PTA employs a number of different strategies designed to help you feel safer on the public transport system.

Here are some of the ways in which the PTA is doing to ensure you feel safe using public transport:

CCTV surveillance systems at every station, car park, in every carriage on every train and bus – these are monitored 24/7;

Upgraded lighting at train station and bus ports;

Safety messages at train stations advising people to stay behind the yellow line;

Two Transit Officers on every train after 7pm;

Emergency help buttons on every train and station; and

Strict fines for graffiti, anti-social or risky behaviour

All of these measures help to deter people from acting in an unsafe way around public transport, they help to keep the buses and trains clean and welcoming and enable you to enjoy your journey in peace.
